What to expect
We’ll first start off with a tea or coffee while your pup sniffs around the studio and indulges in endless fresh water while getting comfortable in the space.
Once every corner has been sniffed, we’ll get started! As you are the pack leader in your house, be prepared to be involved in every aspect of the shoot. Your dog will need you for comfort, reassurance and direction. You’ll be working just as hard as me to guide your four legged friend through the session, showing off their tricks - even if their tricks are as simple as ‘sit’.
Once your pup is comfortable in front of the camera we’ll make use of some quirky props. If you have a special prop you’d like to use, let me know so we can discuss how to make it a reality.
The studio is stocked with treats but if your dog has any allergies or prefers a particular flavour, please be sure to bring some with you. Also bring anything that will make them comfortable like their bed or blanket, but avoid toys as they may cause a little too much excitement.
Behind the lens
My name is Kyla, nice to meet you! I began my photography career 10 years ago doing still life, but my love for all furry friends finally called me to also create portraits for pets. And then Hot Dog Studios was born in 2023. I’m originally from Canada but have called Amsterdam my home for the last 15 years. I’m a mom to two little girls and a puggle named Tesla. While you won’t meet Tesla on photoshoot days (because she will steal all the treats) she does love a coffee and a cuddle on edit days where she is always with me in the studio.
